Fresh 2226 image breaks as decribed.  

If I play around a bit first (closed TextEditor; open PackageEditor) typically breaks, sometimes not.

Fresh 2239 did not break.

I am running same COG on 2226 and 2239.  Both on Samsung ARM Chromebook.

with #self bound to the new Morph works fine in an inspector, but the debugger traceback shows #forShadowOver: with a nil rectangle.
