Please check #syntaxHighlightingAsYouTypeAnsiAssignment and 
#syntaxHighlightingAsYouTypeLeftArrowAssignment . Both default to false.

Would turning on #syntaxHighlightingAsYouTypeAnsiAssignment be enough 
for you?
