Morphic 3 at Smalltalks 2007On Dec 10th to Dec 12th
we had Smalltalks 2007, the first Smalltalk conference in Buenos Aires,
Argentina. It was organized by a bunch of folks from several local
universities and companies using Smalltalk. I witnessed the
organization from the start, and everybody was surprised of the
outcome. We had 3 full days of activities with 28 talks, many really
good, and a full day GLASS workshop. It was also a great oportunity
to meet many old and new Smalltalk friends. We had a great time! I want to thank the committee and the sponsors. You all did a wonderful job! The conference web is http://www.dc.uba.ar/events/smalltalks/2007. At
Smalltalks 2007 I gave a talk and demo of Morphic 3. Besides talking on
the ideas, I wanted something nice to show. So, I completed the
implementation of ImageMorphs. As everything in Morphic 3, these new
ImageMorph handle arbitrary coordinate systems. I also wrote a first
version of the Morphic 3 plugin, for good performance rendering.
You can get the talk abstract (in English). These are comments on my talk by the conference organizers. You can also get the PPT presentation I used including my notes with the talk contents (in Spanish). You can also download the Squeak image I showed. To play with it you can evaluate the expressions in the inspector on any of the 3 image morphs
there. The Morphic 3 plugin is only for Windows.
You can even see the video of my talk at YouTube! Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4. Well, I hope you like it. As always, comments are welcome. Come back soon!
